CMI Safety Weeks 2026: Building a Culture Where Safety Starts with You

At CMI, safety isn’t a single meeting, a checklist, or a once-a-year reminder. It’s part of how we work every day.

That’s why each year we take time to celebrate CMI Safety Weeks across our locations – a company-wide initiative dedicated to reinforcing safe work practices, recognizing our teams, and strengthening the culture that helps everyone return home safely at the end of every shift.

While each facility celebrates in its own way, the purpose remains the same: to keep safety at the center of everything we do.

More Than a Safety Program

Manufacturing environments are constantly moving. Equipment, materials, and people all work together to produce the transformers and components that support America’s electrical grid.

Safety allows that work to happen successfully.

It means recognizing hazards before they become incidents. It means following established procedures, using the right protective equipment, speaking up when something doesn’t seem right, and looking out for one another.

Safety isn’t the responsibility of one department. It’s everyone’s responsibility.

“Safety isn’t just something we talk about during Safety Week,” says Latonia, our Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor (EHS) here at CMI. “It’s something we practice every day. Look out for yourself, look out for each other, and never be afraid to speak up.”

Why Safety Weeks Matter

Taking time to focus on safety helps reinforce the habits that make a lasting difference.

Throughout Safety Weeks, employees across CMI locations participate in activities that encourage learning, teamwork, and conversations about safe work practices. These events are designed to keep safety top of mind while recognizing the commitment our employees demonstrate throughout the year.

The goal isn’t simply to complete another training session. It’s to strengthen awareness, encourage engagement, and continue building a workplace where everyone feels responsible for protecting one another.

Safety Starts with You

This year’s theme says it simply:

Safety Starts With You.

Every safe decision begins with an individual choice.

Choosing to wear the proper PPE.

Choosing to follow procedures.

Choosing to pause before beginning a task.

Choosing to speak up if something doesn’t look right.

Choosing to help a coworker.

Those individual decisions create a culture where safety becomes part of every job, every department, and every shift.

CMI CARE: Safety at Our Core

Our CMI CARE initiative reflects a simple belief: caring for one another is part of doing quality work.

When employees know their teammates are looking out for them, communication improves, accountability grows, and everyone shares ownership in creating a safer workplace.

Safety isn’t only measured by incident reports. It’s reflected in the everyday actions that help prevent incidents from happening in the first place.

Building Safety Together

The transformers we manufacture help deliver reliable electricity to homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, and communities across the country.

That work depends on skilled people doing their jobs safely every day.

As Safety Weeks continue across our facilities, we’re proud to celebrate the employees who demonstrate that commitment through their actions, their teamwork, and their dedication to one another.

Because at CMI, safety isn’t just part of the job.

It’s part of who we are.
